Music

Sometimes life is hard. Really hard. Painful. Especially if we now admitting the truth about things that we have been denying for days, months, or even years.

Power Response

One of the best ways to help us express ourselves and get out of our own heads is to connect with music. Most of us love music. We have our favorite bands and singers. We have our favorite genres. We have our happy playlist, our workout playlist, and our depressed playlist.

I encourage you to use music to your advantage. If you are feeling particularly sad about a reality of your life, get in your car and belt out a song that connects you to that emotion. If you are anxious, turn up the volume in your living room and dance around. If you are angry, grab a pillow and hit is as hard as you can while listening to your favorite lyrics.

For those of you who know me personally, you know that I absolutely love techno music. Anything labeled dance, electronic, house – chances are that I want to listen to it. Yet, when I am particularly contemplative, other genres speak to me. Rock. Classical. Meditative. Alternative. Soul.

Below is a list of some of my favorite music. In no way is this intended to be a prescription of what you should like. If you are looking for new music that you might connect to, here are some of my favorites. Use them as you see fit. Enjoy!!!

Techno/dance/house/electronic

Relaxed Techno (as I like to call it; still electronic but subdued)

Soul/Blues

Alternative
